Machinarium is a beautifully rendered adventure game only on iPad 2.
From the start, the visuals of Machinarium will amaze and astound players. The hand-drawn style is a big change from the high definition, three dimensional action games for iOS. What is even more amazing is the experience that Machinarium gives players. Controlling one small robot in these levels is incredibly captivating and it is easy to get pulled into the game.
Gameplay of Machinarium is focused on exploration and puzzle solving. Players use a combination of point-and-touch with the environment and touch control to manipulate the robot.
Each area contains puzzles that players need to solve to move to the next area. The visual style blends with the puzzles perfectly. Items that must be collected or combined all look like they are natural parts of the level rather than stick out.
Most of the puzzles are intuitive, but some take trial and error. Searching through the entire area is required because some objects might look like they cannot be manipulated, but are essential to solving the level.
Machinarium contains a precise and specific style in the visuals, audio, and gameplay; but it never feels unnatural. While Machinarium might appear simple on the surface, the experience much deeper with the slowly revealing story and more difficult puzzles.
Machinarium only works on the iPad 2, but the unique experience makes it a must-have game.
